If you find yourself with some time to reflect on your content this summer, here are some places I recommend you prioritize.

The summer is a great time to review and plan your content strategy, your business goals and more.
September and the Fall often become busier for many of us, so having the foundation and plans laid out before we don’t have time to focus on it is recommended.
Personally? I spend time thinking about business planning on our long drives to PEI or Windsor, or on a warm afternoon sitting in the yard chatting about planning with Andy and a cold beverage in my hand.
Having the space to plan and not just be in ‘get it done’ mode is priceless.
Here are 4 areas I would recommend you look at when thinking about your content this summer to help you reach your goals in the Fall:
1) Start with your business goals. All (or most) content should be somehow connected to those goals. And it’s ok if your goals or plans have changed, but review it and make sure they are still aligned.
If not, refocus your planning and the content you plan to create.
2) Review your messaging. Is it clear? Is it aligned with your goals? Is it reaching the right audience? Do you make it easy for people to work with you and buy from you? Is it consistent?
If you answered ‘no’ to any of the above, review why that is and start to weave in your messaging more frequently in all of your content. (This includes website, social, podcasts etc)
3) Make a visibility plan for your content. How are people going to know about it? How will you build your email list? We can’t keep building our success on these borrowed platforms (and certainly can use these tools as a strategy vs a tactic to help implement the strategy) so look at other ways to connect.
You can’t sell your product or offer if no one knows about it!
4) It’s time to focus on long form content if you aren’t already. Yes, a blog, or longer videos, or a podcast. Something you can create once, but then offers you a variety of ways to use it for other content. This will save you time and stress.
As with everything, choose a long form content plan that you are excited to try (if you are a writer, lean into blog posts) and start to draft ideas.
